There are thousands of educator-created, ready-to-assign Easel Activities available on TPT School Access. You can immediately assign these activities to your students, or you can add on to them to specialize or differentiate the activity for your students. To customize and assign an Easel Activity that you’ve accessed on TPT School Access, go to the “Resources Accessed” page of your account, then click the “Open” button next to the resource and select “Preview & Assign” to begin assigning your activity. If you have accessed an Easel-only resource, you will only see “Preview & Assign” — click this button to begin assigning in Easel.
If you want to create your own Easel Activity from scratch:
- From the top of the School Access homepage, click “Easel by TPT,” then “Go to Easel.”
- From the “My Activities” page, click “Create,” then "Activity."
- Choose “Upload Files” to upload a PDF from your computer, and select which pages you want to import. The content of the PDF will automatically convert to background images for your Easel Activity.
- Choose “Create a Blank Activity” to start with a blank, white canvas.
- Add annotations using the tools in the toolbar. Here’s an overview of what each tool can do:
- Select: Grab items you’ve added and move them into place on the screen. Students also have access to this tool.
- Answer Box: Create a designated space for students to type an answer to a question. Students can’t move or delete Answer Boxes.
- Text: Write content you wish to include on the page. Students also have access to the Text tool.
- Pen: Underline, circle, or make simple drawings on the page. Students also have access to this tool.
- Highlight: Draw attention to words or items in the resource. Students also have access to this tool.
- Image: Upload any image to the page. Students also have access to this tool.
- Audio: Add audio clips to the activity by recording directly in Easel or uploading a file.
- Shape: Add shapes anywhere on the page. Students also have access to this tool.
-
Delete: Erase any element you have added to the page (other than a background).
- Make the annotations interactive:
- Add an element such as an image, shape, or text box to your Easel Activity.
- With the element selected, you’ll see a small toolbar appear with the following options:
- Make the element movable.
- Create a multiple choice answer option marked as “correct” or “incorrect.”
- Add a link to either a URL or another page within your resource.
Note: You’ll only be able to select one interactive option for the element. For example, an item cannot be both self-checking and movable.
- Click “View as Student” to open a preview of how the activity will appear to students.
- Click the “Assign” button to share the activity with your students.
